Contact Us – Pre-Health & Data/Computer Science Volunteering

In the Fixel Institute Data Lab, we have volunteer positions available for pre-med undergrads and computer science or data science students with a desire to be involved in research/clinical experience. Students will need to be able to devote a minimum of 8 hours per week to this program, on premises at the Fixel Institute. We require a minimum of two semesters of participation.

We have two kinds of volunteers:

  • Pre-med, non-coders
  • Computer science or data science Coders (pre-med included)

Pre-med, non-coder Volunteers will enter data and scan data and will help make clinical research packets. They will also assist in other tasks to assist our lab and clinic. These include various data cleaning tasks and various organizational tasks.

Coder Volunteers help with Python scripts, SQL database queries, Power BI reports, and other data management tasks.

Volunteers are allowed to shadow in our clinic twice per month. You will also be able to attend the weekly Movement Disorders Rounds conferences where patient cases and research are discussed.

We are looking for dedicated individuals. Previous and current volunteers have learned a great deal about movement disorders and their treatment while working with us.
