Review of motor cortex effects of Parkinson disease published

Movement Disorders Cover with brain artDr. David Vaillancourt from the University of Florida and Dr. Roxana Burciu from University of Delaware published a review of what different brain imaging techniques have been showing when looking at the primary motor cortex in Parkinson disease patients. The effects of Parkinson disease on the substantia nigra and related brain areas are typically discussed but researchers are learning more about PD’s effect on the primary motor cortex.

The article “Imaging of Motor Cortex Physiology in Parkinson’s Disease” was published in the journal Movement Disorders.
