Director of Center for Arts in Medicine
Jill Sonke is Director of the Center for the Arts in Medicine at the University of Florida, Assistant Director and Artist in Residence with Shands Arts in Medicine, is on the faculty of the School of Theatre and Dance, and is an affiliated faculty member in the Center for African Studies and the Center for Movement Disorders and Neurorestoration. She is active in research, curriculum and program development at UF, and is a frequent presenter, consultant, and guest artist at universities, conferences, hospitals, and festivals throughout the United States and abroad. She is also a past president of the Society for the Arts in Healthcare.
Jill leads the Dance for Life outreach program which includes teaching Parkinson patients dancing or dance moves that can help them improve their overall mobility and balance. The dance students involved in the program also learn about the benefits of dance activity for these patients.
